The Salem Hills Cross Country team competed on Friday at the Utah County Invitational that took place at the Lakeside Sport Park in Orem. It was a great course with high temperatures and fast times. Both boys and girls teams competed well and ran hard. As coaches, we are pleased with the efforts we are seeing from each of you each race. A big congratulations goes out to Matthew Chesnut for finishing 6th in his race (7th overall). For complete results click:

Great Start to the Season!

Well, we are now through our first week of the season, and as a coaching staff, we are excited by what we've seen! We're looking forward to the next couple of months together with each of you as we work hard and improve our individual and team performances. If you are new to the team, we are THRILLED to have you with us, and we look forward to watching you improve and succeed.

Here are the results of our first three meets:

Tuesday, August 24--Pre-Region @ Maple Mountain. Both teams finished in third at the first meet of our season, with Matthew Chesnut and Kaetlin Bracken finishing as our top runners for each team. Great job to all of our participants. This was a great starting point for the rest of our season!

Saturday, August 28--Grass Relays @ American Fork. What can be better than an early morning 2 mile Cross Country race? How 'bout HAY BALES!!! One of the great Cross Country traditions in the state of Utah took place again this past weekend. Great job by all of our runners! We were thrilled to watch each of you run hard and give us your very best effort out there! A special shout out to Nathan Peck and Karlee Loss for being our top performers!

Tuesday, August 31--Payson, Juab, Spanish Fork @ Salem Hills. Our first home meet of the season was a great success as both our girls and boys teams were able to come away with wins against some of our rival friends. As coaches, we couldn't have been more THRILLED with the effort of each and every member of our team! Way to go each and every one of you! Our girls team scored a near perfect score with Karlee Loss (1st), Kaetlin Bracken (2nd), Ally Duffin (4th), Diana Moreva (5th) and Sierra Malm (6th) leading the way for the Lady Skyhawks. On the boys team, Nathan Peck, Matthew Chesnut and James Wright led the way by going 1st-3rd, respectively. They were followed closely by Collin Steadman and Alex Minson close behind to round out our scoring.

Our next meet will be this FRIDAY (not Saturday as originally scheduled). We will be competing at the Utah County Invitational that will be hosted by Timpanogos High School. The race will be at the Lakeside Sports Park in Orem (400 S 1850 W). The format will be a bit different than most Invitationals, as there is no Varsity race. Everyone will race in their age group race, and scores will be calculated from the fastest 5 times, regardless of which race they were in. The race schedule is as follows:
Freshman/Sophomore Girls at 4:00
Freshman/Sophomore Boys at 4:30
Junior/Senior Girls at 5:00
Junior/Senior Boys at 5:30

The bus will leave the high school promptly at 2:35 on Friday afternoon. Please be ready to go at that time!
